Rachel is an MFT intern who provides counseling services with Hope Counseling Center. She attended Westmont College and received her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary. Rachel primarily uses a psycho-dynamic and family systems approach in her work with her clients. However, she also incorporates many other techniques where it best suits her clients’ needs. Rachel’s primary objective is to create a safe place for her clients to explore and reach the healing that they are seeking. With compassion and insight, she meets each person in their particular area of need and helps them in their personal process of healing. Rachel addresses a broad range of emotional and psychological issues with her clients and helps them to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
Rachel is a therapist especially skilled in the treatment of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and compulsive overeating. She has extensive experience treating eating disorders at the inpatient level, intensive outpatient level, and individual counseling level. Her areas of interest also include trauma, addiction, dissociative disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, and relationship issues. Rachel enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
In her free time, Rachel enjoys being outdoors, reading, traveling, hiking, running, biking, and having coffee with friends.
Rachel also facilitates a weekly eating disorder support group (ANAD) in the community. Rachel is a pre-licensed member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists , the Santa Barbara Chapter of Marriage and Family Therapists , Academy for Eating Disorders, and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP). Rachel serves on the board of the Central Coast IAEDP as the facilitator of Education and Hospitality.
